A2F Blue Bible Study Number 2 (Hey, that rhymes!)

Whoo! Hello there again! I know all of you have been itching to read another wonderful and exciting post about last week’s Bible Study :] The historian team (one of many service teams that help our Christian fellowship run smoothly) has been getting adjusted to its new role so we’ve been falling slightly behind with posting, but hey if you’re reading this now, we’re happy!

Anyway, back to the bible study. Last Friday was definitely a lot of fun. The sophomores hosted the freshmen for dinner outside of Morgan Hall. In just a few weeks, many of the freshmen have become “familiar faces,” and I’m starting to connect names with people’s faces (and even majors for some of them!). Even though there were a lot of returners, we had a quite a few newcomers (which is good!), and I had the chance to meet some of them. It’s always exciting for me to meet new people and build new relationships, especially in this grueling college environment.

Before the message by Pastor Will on sin (remember? the light and the darkness metaphors), Senior Billy Zhang led the icebreaker game in which we saw newcomers and A2F-veterans alike come forward to display their acting skills (or lack thereof). I have to say my favorite was probably “Senior” Yao Yue imitating a zombie attack, with actions slightly reminiscent of “Thriller.”

Yao ponders how to portray "zombie attack" as Terry (Fr.) picks his action from... a trashcan.

The message was insightful and raised questions about sin and its effects on us. Pastor Will’s illustration of thinking of sin in terms of a relationship with others was especially applicable to me. After Bible Study, the freshmen and newcomers went to San Francisco and visited Ghirardelli Square. Here’s what Senior Judge Hensley had to say about that trip: “We had a great time at Ghiradelli on Friday. I was able to meet a bunch of new students and enjoy some great ice cream. Our table split an EarthQuake Sundae and we came away with one weird word of advice-don’t try eight different flavors, it doesn’t mix well.” Haha, I’ve never had an Earthquake Sundae before, but it sounds pretty intense.

I’m seriously having a great time at Friday Bible Studies. What better way to end off a tiring week than with some good food, great company, an awesome message, and much needed stress-relieving activities?! I’m really looking forward to this Friday’s message and scavenger hunt afterward! Freshmen, don’t forget that seniors are hosting you all for dinner! I hope to see you all there on Friday.

  4. lol love the title…and yayyyyy can’t wait for bible study this friday!

  5. Wish I could have been at Ghirardelli’s! We had a great time practicing for the wedding though.

  6. The point of the game was to act out your REACTION to the situation! I guess it ended up being group charades, haha. Unless Yao reacts to zombie attacks by acting like a zombie…

And hey, that trash can was perfectly clean!
