We’re down to the last 2 weeks at D-House. It seems we’re all in a flux: Seniors sleeping at random times due to finals, leftover food and laptops in a somewhat organized mess, and people (including the staff interns like me) still trying to find housing in Alameda. It’s hard to believe, but in 2 weeks this whole house will be emptied out. That’s why D-House Finales are always something special…
That’s Dana House in 2007, when it was all staff and Bryan Song (aka Bree) from Austin was manager. That night we somehow got keys to the Willard Middle School lights on the softball field, and we BBQ’d a sumptuous meal, followed by 9 innings of softball. The highlight of the night was when Bree smacked the ball over the fence, and hit former Cal Quarterback Joe Ayoob’s house. He was fine with it, thankfully!
This year we went to Fuddrucker’s in Emeryville for an all out feast! People had a hard time walking afterwards because most bros chose to eat 1 pound burgers…gross.
It’s been quite a ride at D House the past 3 years, and I’m sure we’ll all miss it. With 22 people packed into this house, we definitely have been living out the core value of “Getting Close” .
Thanks for the post, Mike. I sure will miss Dana house next year!
