Freshman Sisters celebrate Mandy's Birthday

Friday, 10/31, was a really busy and fun-filled night for a2f Blue.  Before the message by Pastor Will, we all had a delicious chicken dinner. It’s exciting to see the freshmen and other newcomers really becoming a part of our community. Right afterward, we had an interesting icebreaker involving eggs, chickens, dinosaurs, royalty, and rock/paper/scissors. Not very intuitive, but REALLY fun! The message was on John 6 and the “Feeding of the Five Thousand.” Pastor Will discussed many points, including examining Jesus’ actions to get a glimpse of what God is like (i.e. God is compassionate seen through Jesus’ compassion for people) and others detailing what we can learn about being a Christian from Jesus (i.e. all of Jesus’ followers are disciples, testing is an opportunity God gives for our faith to grow). After the message, we split up into two groups to have our first practice for Thanksgiving Celebration! The sophomores and the seniors (the half who joined them) gave it all while trying to absorb the fast-paced, martial arts inspired, choreography for their theme “Kung Fu Panda.” The freshmen and the seniors (the other half) embraced that they’re the “New Kids on the Block” (err, at least the freshmen did), and showed that their dancing abilities are not to be underestimated. It’s going to be interesting to see how the dances end up in the end as we learn the whole routine. I’m excited already :]

Sisters with the increasingly popular "Asian family portrait." They're getting really good at it

After TC practice, the seniors headed off to their senior discipleship retreat while the underclassmen brothers and sisters headed over to Jackson Lao’s house and Eunice Lee’s house (respectively) to have a BBQ/Band of Brothers Night and Sleepover(respectively). The brothers were treated to late night snacks of chips, soda, hot dogs (chicken apple and hot links!), ice cream, cake, and brownies! Of course, I have to mention we watched the first two episodes of Band of Brothers; I think watching the courageous deeds and selfless, patriotic mindsets of the soldiers of Easy Company put all the brothers to shame. The sisters had an equally great time playing various games, eating, and enjoying the opportunity get to know one another.

Remember, that this week’s Bible Study is the special event, Gone, on Thursday at First Presbyterian Church. Also a2f Blue has a Yosemite getaway this coming weekend! Good bye until then!

  2. man band of brothers bbq night was really splendid! we should have it more often!

  3. I’m glad the underclassmen got to experience the camaraderie of Band of Brothers. I’ve learned a lot of lessons about true brotherhood and leadership from that mini-series… also it’s just awesome to watch.
