Being a Part of Gracepoint Worship

easter_praise

If you haven’t figured out by now, one of the ways I love serving in this church is through being a part of the Gracepoint Worship Team.  Every Sunday, we lead our congregation in a time of worship, reflection, and a turning of hearts, minds, and emotions towards God.  One of my favorite moments, which occurs every week, is to hear our church members belting out the songs and seeing people lose themselves in the music and words.  It still gives me goosebumps to this day!

That pic above is taken from our Easter Service.  I put that up there as an example of how much work goes into crafting a worship set.  James Kim, worship director, chooses the set by Wednesday.  We get together Thursday nights from 9 pm-11:30 at our NorthLoop building to practice, pray through the set, and of course laugh at each other’s mistakes.  James’ quirky humor always keeps things lively.  Sunday Mornings involve set up and run through right up to Prayer Meeting. For Easter Sunday though, we had a Saturday practice for I think almost 6 hours.  My wrist was in some major pain for a week!

Without the people NOT on stage though, worship could never happen.  There’s a whole team of people in the back of the auditorium running PROLOGUE, which is how you guys see the words to sing along with.  Sound Stage and Lighting set up and run the lighting (look at the pic above and see an awesome example of this).   Jackson Lao, Esther Im, and others run the sound board, mixing our instruments and vocals.  Gracepoint Worship is just one example of our church coming together and working hard to glorify God.

By the way, I need to use this post to make a plug for a quite awesome blog, Gracepoint Worship of course.  Check it out!  You’ll see some hilarious vids and embarrassing pics.  And posts about Worship, of course…..
