On June 28th, members of a2f3, along with various other groups from Gracepoint Fellowship Church, fasted for 30 hours and sought sponsorship donations from our classmates, friends, relatives, and coworkers to help raise funds and awareness regarding the issue of world hunger.
But in addition to fasting from food, a2f3 ran a garage sale in Alameda to raise even more money! We asked members from Gracepoint Fellowship Church to sort through their garages and closets so we could gather and sell their “junk.” In the span of 3 days, we had
PILES of donations! And as we setup our canopies early Saturday morning (8:00 am!) at Lincoln Middle School and began to arrange our goods, we quickly realized that the old adage “One man’s junk is another man’s treasure” is indeed true! People immediately flocked to our parking lot garage sale and began quickly rummaging, bargaining, and buying! We all immediately went to work hawking our goods and telling our patrons that all the proceeds would be donated to help world hunger. They were so thankful to hear what we, as a Christian group, was doing.
It was a wonderful time working together to put together this garage sale and doing our part, however little, to help feed the the children. In the end, we were all so amazed and thankful that we raised over $1,500 in the 7 hours were were out there!
We ended our 30-hour fast together the next day at Dana House with a “break fast” meal. It was a good time of fellowship and we all agreed to do it again in the future and to continue to our part to help those less fortunate around us in the ways that we could.

Thanks for organizing the events Andrew! It was definitely worth it.
